Cultrual Activities

The college provides its students numerous opportunities for co-curricular activities to enrich their cultural interests. The cultural committee of the college encourages the students to take part in a wide variety of cultural competitions such as singing, dancing, debates, creative writing etc. and holds various cultural activities throughout the year. There is an annual inter-class cultural competition every year and the winners of these events can represent the annual university cultural competition “Utsav”. With the objective of imparting a holistic perspective to professional higher education, a “Centre for Humanities” has been created in Vaish College of Engineering and has been functioning effectively. The centre intends to create an atmosphere, which is intellectually and aesthetically stimulating for the community on the campus. The Centre also runs short courses in Humanities for the community of Vaish College of Engineering and interested general public. The courses are informal and are intended to sensitise the academic world to the other dimensions of human experience and knowledge. The Centre’s activities are intended to orient them towards standards of equality, justice and a humanist culture. These courses are offered throughout the year and they are run with the help of eminent people invited from all over India. Some of the areas that the Centre has planned to provide exposure to the students are:

Local Theatrical Arts
Literature, Music, Painting, Cinema and other Fine Arts
History and Philosophy of Science d. Cultural Responses to Globalisation
Ecology and Environment, Culture, Religion and Philosophy
Functional knowledge of Local and Foreign languages

There is an active chapter of SPICMACAY (Society for Promotion of Indian Classical Music and Culture Among Youth), which is functioning under the Centre for Humanities and is a part of a network of nation wide chapters. All students who wish to participate in the activities of SPICMACAY contact their Institutional Staff Cultural Coordinator and register their names to receiving cupdates by email regarding various programmes being organised by the Centre.
